SuperHappy Chicken

Page history last edited by Ronny 12 years, 10 months ago

Description:

SuperHappy Chicken! is a simple app that will allow people at the event to checkin using a webpage with their facebook account (it could support other accounts in the future).  When you checkin, you'll be asked to leave a brief message.  Ppl would checkin from their laptops or phones.  But as so many ppl will be on a laptop, a large format website is fine to start.  And it should list some important links for the event, the irc channel, etc.

A version 2.0, could automatically pull in checkins from facebook, foursquare, foound.com, etc.

Doesn't this already exist in one of a million apps?

Yes, but none of them really address a common need of events like this or cafes that people work from.

It'd be really nice if at the event, when somebody connects to the wifi, they're prompted to checkin with their facebook account.  When their computer disconnects, they're automatically checked out.  Ultimately, "SuperHappy Chicken!" could be used for other events or cafes that want to help their customers connect online via: chatrooms, 1-on-1 messages, friends of friends, etc.  Paul Bragiel first mentioned this idea to me for his incubator and cafe ventures.io in San Francisco.

Real or fun project?

I think this could turn into a real service that people would actually use, and *gasp* pay for. But to start, I think we should just try to make it a fun project for SHDH.sg and see if other SHDH's would be interested in using it.

Where did the name come from?

I first thought of listing the project as SHDH Check-in, then just SuperHappy Checkin, then being a little hungry as I always am, and the fact that when you say it fast, it sounds like "chicken", I figured we should just start by calling it SuperHappy Chicken!

We are working on something similar . Its called RedSparro ( http://redsparro.com )

RedSparro is an HTML5 mobile app

We can adapt it work for SuperHappyDevhouse -

You connect via Facebook and checkin by scanning a QR code on a poster on the entrance.

Once you are checked in , you may browse who else has checked in, filter people by tags , send them 1-1 messages , participate in a common chat, ask questions, conduct polls etc
We avoid the clutter of twitter by limiting the communications to only the people who are at the location.

As you meet people during the event , you can bookmark them on RedSparro and later sync with social networks - Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin etc . Thus avoiding business card sickness.

Also we have a feature called 'WhiteBoard' to cater for attendees seeking the attention of others

For eg - 1) People looking for co-founders / partners / developers
2) People who are building something interesting and want others to give feedback or try out their services.
3) People who are willing to give away deals on their own services / products exclusively to attendees

We have games - to increase networking and add some fun.

I'm thinking of making check in more fun and relevant for SHDH. call it "SHDH tower defense". All players check in every few minutes to stay awake.. Defend against the zzz monsters. See who is the last man standing against the increasing horde of zZZ. Hahahah
